Valentine’s Day Suggestions.
They call Niagara Falls the Honeymoon City. But if you’ll allow us a moment to brag about our romantic prowess, we’re a pretty good place to feel the love year-round.
Pick a night – OK, Valentine’s Day. February 14.
Come on down.
So first, book your room at the Howard Johnson Hotel by the Falls on Victoria Avenue.
That puts you right in the heart of the tourist district, and a short trip from all the places you’ve come to Niagara Falls to see, like the falls, Clifton Hill, either of the casinos or just to do a little shopping and have a nice meal afterward.
Before you plan your itinerary, though, cast your eyes over HoJo’s offerings. There are several eye-catching packages to choose from that involve wine, adventure, thrills, chills or a little of that old amoré.
For Valentine’s Day, the Romance Package includes meal vouchers, a beautifully arranged gift basket that includes a chilled bottle of VQA wine, two adult passes for the WeGo tourist shuttle that goes all over the city, plus two passes for a romantic ride on Niagara’s Skywheel, that giant Ferris wheel located right next to the hotel.
There’s a lot happening in Niagara Falls on or around Valentine’s Day.
For starters, on Valentine’s Day evening Kurt Elling, the Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, with his band will perform at the Niagara Fallsview Casino in the Avalon Theatre.
It’s a cozy, beautifully intimate setting for that kind of show. There are no bad seats in the house, and what a way to start your evening.
Next night, on February 15, another Grammy winner is in town. Josh Groban will be on stage at the Avalon – a good show to start your romantic evening in the Falls.
After the show, why not take a stroll, just the two of you, down by the falls?
The falls isn’t so busy with tourists that time of night, and with the noise of the city dim in the background, listen to the natural roar of the falls while you watch the light show on the cataracts. It’s intoxicating.
Or maybe a little comedy is the way you want to start your romantic night. So head over to Yuk Yuk’s where Mike Wilmot will be dishing out the laughs on stage.
If a quiet night at the hotel is more to your liking, then HoJo’s has you covered.
There are family-friendly eateries like Pizza Hut, KFC and Baskin-Robbins. Or, if it’s just the two of you, The Keg or TGI Friday’s might be more your style for this evening.
Valentine’s Day is a nice time of the year to visit Niagara Falls. There’s a chill in the air, and the falls themselves are beautiful in February.
It’s a good place to spend special days like this.
