Mother's Day in Niagara FallsApril 22, 2019
There’s no better place to celebrate Mom this year than the Honeymoon City.
Niagara Falls is famous as a centre for love – not just the romantic kind, but also for kids and moms, and moms and their families.
When you come on down, you’ll need a home base for your stay, and all roads lead to the Howard Johnson By The Falls, strategically located on Victoria Avenue right at the top of Clifton Hill, the city’s world-famous street of fun and games.
Not only is the location prime for walking all through the tourist district, but the hotel also offers great views all around, including the American and Horseshoe Falls.
HoJo has a deal that would be perfect for Mother’s Day, called the Niagara Falls Family Fun Package (because Mother’s Day is all about family, right?)
Described as a “sensory bonanza,” it includes deluxe accommodations, with several room sizes available, a meal voucher for Denny’s restaurant located inside the hotel, a complimentary in-room movie with popcorn plus adult admission passes to Clifton Hill attractions like the Niagara SkyWheel, the largest observation wheel in Canada, the Movieland Museum of Stars, the Ghostblasters ride, Zombie Attack and others.
As well, there are two adult passes to the Imax Theatre and two more for the Niagara Daredevil Museum and for rides on the WeGo tourist shuttle.
If mom is travelling with just her significant other, there are some key places to visit. Possibly a romantic cruise at the bottom of 'the mighty' cataracts aboard one of the Hornblower ships?
How about holding hands for a walk through the caves behind the falls. Or if you’re tired of winter and want to see spring colours, it’s a short trek to either the Niagara Botanical Gardens, beside the Butterfly Conservatory or the parks commission greenhouse, across the street from Table Rock.
Or if mom is up for some thrills, there is always the Whirlpool Adventure Course at Thompson Point. She can be challenged by suspended obstacles, ziplines and rope ladders there.
Still in it for the thrills? Then try the Zipline to the Falls – which is exactly what it sounds like. Plus, it offers one of the greatest views of the waterfalls and the rapids you can ever imagine.
Sometimes, mom just comes to Niagara Falls to get lucky. How about a trip to Casino Niagara, which is right off Clifton Hill?
The city’s first casino opened in 1996, it offers a smaller, more intimate experience than the larger Niagara Fallsview Casino (which isn’t very far from Clifton Hill either, come to think of it).
All that, and you’re close to home back at Howard Johnson By The Falls. By that time, mom is probably ready to call it a night.
Or is she?
