Zip Line Along the Falls at Night!September 9, 2019
Imagine the view – you’re literally flying, downhill, going 70 km-h (or 40 mph) into the face of Niagara Falls!
Yes, you are securely connected to the zipline overhead, and yes you have a guide with you. But it sure feels dangerous in that harness.
You’ve started from a height of 67 metres (220 feet) and you’re going high-speed along the edge of the Niagara River gorge with the wind in your face and the person beside you screaming their head off.
That’s the experience of ziplining in Niagara Falls, starting from WildPlay Niagara Falls on the Niagara Parkway.
Now they have added a new twist to this thrill ride: you can zipline at night.
With darkness falling, the mist has dissipated a little and with the Horseshoe falls illuminated in bright red, yellow, blue and purple you can see every detail in the crowds, rapids and rocks below you.
In the darkness your senses are alive! Travelling more than half a kilometre, it’s an experience you’ll want to talk about over and over for years.
There are a few rules. The minimum age is seven, and kids 13 and younger must be accompanied. The weight limit for riders is 275 pounds, and any camera you want to use on the ride must be well secured (think of the people below you).
Helmets are provided.
Fireworks displays over the falls continue each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 7, with an extra show on Monday, Oct. 8 which is the Canadian Thanksgiving. And when you’re done, remember – you’re in Niagara Falls! Live it up!
There are hundreds of great restaurants, more thrill rides around Clifton Hill, a few world-class indoor waterparks and a couple of pretty big casinos that are calling your name, too.
And if the zipline has you thinking of the natural beauty of Niagara Falls, what with that great view of the gorge and beautiful trees you just enjoyed, remember – this city is surrounded by natural beauty.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist zones and there are elegant nature walks, forests with trails and beautiful, relaxed drives you can take along the Niagara Parkway.
This city really does have it all!
