Regular Go Train Trips to Niagara FallsFebruary 12, 2019
It’s worth the drive to Niagara Falls – but what if you didn’t have to drive?
There is a simpler way.
That’s because Niagara Falls is on the GO – daily commuter train service connecting Niagara with Toronto has arrived, and more trips are expected to be added to the schedule before too long.
For now, weekday service is limited to one round-trip that leaves Niagara Falls at 5:19 a.m. with a stop in St. Catharines on the way to Toronto, and the trip home leaves Toronto at 5:15 p.m.
But from June 22 through Sept. 3, and then again from Oct. 5-8, there will be regular service three times daily between Toronto and Niagara Falls on weekends and holiday Mondays.
That’s a perfect schedule for people wanting to bring their families to the tourism capital, or anyone who wants to enjoy the fun here without the frustration of driving here.
It’s also a sign of the provincial government’s commitment to better rail service in Niagara Falls that it brought daily GO train trips here three years ahead of schedule.
The price is right – a same-day return ticket costs about $44.
That’s especially good for those coming in from Toronto or anywhere else on the QEW.
You know the frustrating feeling – sitting in your car on the highway, bumper to bumper with vehicles headed toward Niagara Falls, while the lanes running in the opposite direction just a few feet away are moving like a free-flowing stream.
No more! The train is here!
Once you’ve arrived, getting around Niagara Falls couldn’t be simpler.
The WeGo tourist buses will pick you up right at the train station and take you right to the doorstep of Howard Johnson's By The Falls, on Victoria Avenue.
The hotel is situated right in the Clifton Hill hotspot, but the bus will also take you to the Horseshoe Falls, the Fallsview or Lundy’s Lane districts, or pretty much anywhere you want to go in the city.
Many of the local hotels or tourist attractions are incorporating the GO trip into special packages they are offering, too, so it pays to shop around and see what you can get.
Before you take off to see the city, first get settled into your HoJo room and maybe grab a bite to eat – right in the hotel, there is a Denny’s, Pizza Hut Express, KFC Express, Baskin Robbins shop, The Keg, and T.G.I. Friday’s.
Board train. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Step off the train hit the WeGo bus and before you know it you’re at Howard Johnson's doorstep.
Well, that was easy.
